This project sheds light on the nuanced beauty of black hair. By surveying my surroundings and documenting my friends different hairstyles, the project became more about self-expression and presentation. I believe each portrait reveals specific insight on the subject whether they are aware of it or not. My goal was to encourage discourse surrounding the complexities of black presentation via photographing different hair textures.
